The Thrifted Find I Always Get Compliments On

Years ago I found this Jones New York fur lined coat in a resale boutique called Snooty Fox here in Cincinnati. If you live in Cincy, you probably know what I am talking about– it’s awesome! If I remember correctly it was $30. Yet, whenever I wear this coat I feel like I am a celebrity wearing a fancy, expensive (faux) fur. That’s the power of clothes. Throwing this coat on over top whatever I wear, albeit track pants and sneakers, instantly makes me feel too cool for school. What I love about this coat the most is the warmth it provides. It’s like I am wrapped in my coziest blanket. Not a lot of coats I’ve seen have the fur on the inside, but it makes more sense to me, than to have it the other way around. Here’s what I wore underneath. Don’t you love this cold shoulder sweater? It feels like cashmere, but it was only $20 bucks at Hollister. Also, peep the sunglasses from FLOWER EYEWEAR. I did a review on them …

Minetta Lane

My last photoshoot in New York City was with photographer, Kadijah Nichole. I was excited to squeeze in one more shoot before I had to leave the beautiful city. I am uploading it here as well as in my modeling portfolio because it has that lifestyle/blogger quality to it. I thought I’d make it work for both places and just go into more detail about my outfit here. Two birds with one stone, ya know? Can we talk about this coat? On the last day of my internship my AE (account executive I was paired with and worked alongside for 4 months) gifted me with my choice of anything from the F/W 16 Belstaff collection. My jaw dropped to the floor when he said this! Belstaff is a premiere, luxury designer label that specializes in leathers and outerwear. I’d always dreamt about owning one of their fabulous coats. After taking my time going through the rack in the showroom, I settled on this stunner. I love the boyish fit of it, the asymmetrical shearling detail, …

Style Star of the Week: Jeffrey Calant

Name: Jeffrey Calant 24 Belgium Bachelor in Photography, currently working for the denim brand Diesel I don’t think I can give my style a name… I wear a different style every day, it depends on how I wake up and what I would like to wear that day. One day can be super casual, the other day I am all dressed up. I like too many things. I follow a lot of famous people and influencers on instagram and get a lot of ideas from there. One of my favorite people on instagram is @kosta_williams because he also mixes a lot of styles.  If I had to wear one outfit for a month straight I’d wear my long camel coat, a shirt, fun jeans and white sneakers. It would be an outfit that is comfy but can look really clean at the same time. As I work for Diesel, I was looking at their latest campaign pictures and liked them a lot. Curious to know who shot it, I took to the internet. All I found of the photographer were a lot of scandals… I …

I Love a Good Print

I found this shirt at a thrift store a while ago. It has become a wild card in my wardrobe. You know: those pieces that you put on every now and then when you want to make a statement and shake things up. In the past I’ve worn it in a way that you could only see a peek of the print, but this time I wanted to wear it full force– in all its glory! As you already know from the last outfit post I wrote, I am always in my adidas track pants. So this shouldn’t be a surprise. The shirt is so loose and comfortable, that I wanted to keep the whole look that way. I am a sucker for a good contradiction though… so I couldn’t let myself get too comfy. My choice to wear this wide brim hat versus a baseball cap, keeps the look stylish. I think my makeup and jewelry do the same thing. It keeps me from looking like I am just wearing Pajamas. I Bet You I Can Find a Hundred Different Ways to Wear Adidas Track Pants

If I had to wear one pair of pants for the rest of my life, it would be these. I honestly think I could come up with a hundred different ways to wear Adidas Track Pants. I received these for Christmas last year, and haven’t been able to take them off since. They’re just so versatile! As we’re now approaching winter, it’s not advised to go bare legged, so I thought my track pants would make the perfect addition to this outfit (a floral printed dress with a sweater thrown on top). While one’s first instinct may be to wear tights instead, I think this is much more unexpected, and exciting. One of the employees where I intern actually complimented me when I wore this to the office. He said, “You look so cool today!” It felt good that he called me out on it. I felt cool! Haha. Try this: Put together an outfit like you normally would, but then at the last minute substitute whatever you’re wearing on bottom with track pants. Or, …

I am an Adult Woman, And I Enjoy Wearing Tutus

When I first saw this Mystree tutu dress in the boutique I work at, I thought it was so cool. It took me a while to actually purchase it because I needed to convince myself I’d actually wear it. I tried it on, and all of a sudden the ideas started rolling. I can wear it with a sweater on top, or throw a cardigan over it. I can pair jeans with it, or my Adidas track pants, I can wear a long sleeve top underneath… I knew this would be a special weapon in my wardrobe. And I was right! I wear this thing more often than I’d like to admit. When I feel like my outfit needs that extra something, I add in the tutu and it gives me that edge I wanted. I really want to do a full lookbook showing how I wear this thing. For now, enjoy these lovely photos taken by Yanping Nora Soong. If you love dressing in a unique way, and like adding a little quirk to …

I Bought The Perfect 21st Birthday Dress For $12.99!

On October 3rd, I turned 21. Leading up to the big day, my first thoughts were not “what will my first legal drink be,” but instead “what will I wear??” Let me just preface this post by saying, I am not a party girl. I’ve never had a fake ID,  and while I’ve had a few drinks here and there before my 21st (sshh), it was never something I partook in regularly. With that being said, I don’t really own any club dresses, or sexy party outfits. I see a lot of girls at my college who wear these skin tight bodycon dresses, and while it looks great on them, it’s just not for me! I don’t want everyone to see each and every curve, and all the bones in my body. But alas, this was my big birthday. I felt obligated to find a dress that was a little out of my comfort zone– something sexy, but still me. I checked the typical stores that I thought would have what I was looking for: …

You May Want To Add THIS To Your Travel Essentials List

This is Travalo, the leading refillable fragrance atomizer. It is TSA approved, comes in a variety of colors, and holds up to 65 sprays of fragrance. Instead of bringing the entire bottle of your favorite perfume, and risking not being able to bring it on the plane, you can transfer the scent into Travalo. This is super handy not only for travel, but to bring to the gym, or keep in your purse for touch ups throughout the day. Travalo is available in several stores including Ulta,  Saks, and Nordstrom Rack and retails for $19.99. It comes in several colors and styles. To see them all CLICK HERE. Is this a product you could see yourself using? I’m going to test mine out on the road this coming week as I travel to NYC. I love how compact it is, so I don’t have to worry about adding more bulk to my luggage. Photo Creds: TLBerry Photography Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I received free product in exchange for writing this review. Although this post …

My Modeling Portfolio + My Thoughts on the Industry

I created a website with my most recent modeling work. This is something I should’ve done a while ago. I have an online portfolio website for my school projects (I am a fashion design major), as well as my fashion styling work. So, it just made sense to have one for modeling as well. I recently quit the agency I was a part of because they weren’t doing anything for me. When I first moved to Cincinnati that was one of the things I immediately wanted to do was sign with an agency. I made the mistake of going with the first one I interviewed with, instead of thoroughly doing my research and asking around. They convinced me to pay for a portfolio through their website, which is why I never had my own. Meanwhile, I went out and got my own work, which was often unpaid, but at least I was building my portfolio. The agency called me a total of two times with a possible gig, but neither one of them worked out. …
