Minetta Lane

My last photoshoot in New York City was with photographer, Kadijah Nichole. I was excited to squeeze in one more shoot before I had to leave the beautiful city. I am uploading it here as well as in my modeling portfolio because it has that lifestyle/blogger quality to it. I thought I’d make it work for both places and just go into more detail about my outfit here. Two birds with one stone, ya know? Can we talk about this coat? On the last day of my internship my AE (account executive I was paired with and worked alongside for 4 months) gifted me with my choice of anything from the F/W 16 Belstaff collection. My jaw dropped to the floor when he said this! Belstaff is a premiere, luxury designer label that specializes in leathers and outerwear. I’d always dreamt about owning one of their fabulous coats. After taking my time going through the rack in the showroom, I settled on this stunner. I love the boyish fit of it, the asymmetrical shearling detail, …

This Is What Every Fall/Winter Outfit Needs

Something is missing in this outfit. Can you tell what it is? Here’s a hint: It will go on the upper half of my body. It’s a blanket scarf! Yes, it’s back. I talked about it last year and I am bringing it up again this year. Around this time of season, when it’s just now starting to get nippy out, this scarf can literally be worn as a way to cover your arms. It’s a great option if you’re not quite cold enough to commit to a coat. And when it does climb to freezing temps, this baby is just what you need to bundle up with and wrap tightly around your neck. A neutral option like this one from Tj Maxx ($20!) is perfect because it literally goes with everything! Shop the look! All photos taken by Jack Soltysik

Layering Tricks to Ditch the Winter Slump

When deciding what to wear when the weather turns chilly, my first thoughts usually go straight to oversized sweaters. While an oversized sweater or two is great, wearing them for a whole season can get boring, and there are so many other options. The key to getting through chilly winters is often layering, so instead of throwing on your usual slouchy cardigan, try out some of these winter layering tips to freshen up your cold-weather look. Layer your Vest Over your Jacket Show off a fun and fluffy faux fur vest by layering it over your regular jacket. Match up your hemlines lengths  to keep it looking chic. Winter Midi Skirts Pull out your favorite spring midi skirt and pair it with tights and some knee-high boots for winter. If it’s especially cold, you even layer leggings under the skirt. Throw a simple sweater on top like Victoria Beckham to finish up the look. 3/4 Length Sleeves Keep all of your 3/4 sleeve jackets in rotation by layering a long sleeve shirt underneath. It also provides a great …

College Dorm Room Storage Solutions + GIVEAWAY

As of today I am officially moved into my new apartment and fully unpacked. My room is organized and decorated, but it took some time to get there. As I was trying to figure out where everything should go, I realized I have a lot of stuff. If you’re in the middle of moving into a new place for the school year, you’ll probably be able to relate. It’s frustrating to not have storage space for those extra items that just don’t seem to fit anywhere. There’s a few solutions to this problem, but what I’ve found really helpful is my tote bag from Thirty One Gifts. The bag is very spacious, super chic, and because it’s made out of fabric and not hard plastic, it’s easy to squeeze into spaces if need be. Keep reading to find out how you can win your very own customized tote from Thirty One Gifts.  This bag can be used for more than just in your room. Leave it in your car to bring in groceries (the bag …

Neck Tie Scarves and Ascots… Are They Really Making a Comeback?

The other day I was flipping through a Free People magazine I got in the mail, and a certain recurring trend caught my eye. Scarves being tied directly at the neck… almost looking ascot-like. To my surprise, I actually love the way this looks. Where had I seen this before? Well, they were all over the runways for Fall/Winter 2015-16. In fact this trend showed up in New York, Milan, and Paris for several shows, each styled differently. Fall/Winter 2015-2016, Chloe, Paris Fall/Winter 2015-2016, Moncler Gamme Rouge, Paris Fall/Winter 2015-2016, Bottega Veneta, Milan Fall/Winter 2015-2016, Marc by Marc Jacobs, New York Obviously, not all statements made on the runway show up in everyday fashion, but these scarves are subtle and stylish enough to most definitely have the possibility of showing up in everyday fashion. Not all of these looks take on the exact form of an ascot or neck tie scarf, but they definitely seem inspired by them. These scarves were popular accessories for women in the 50s, and made a big comeback in the disco-era …
