Meet Niyah. The editor-in-chief and creator of Inexpensive Chic. At 21 years old, she’s an aspiring fashion stylist and thought creating a fashion blog might be a way to get her foot in the door. Currently, Niyah is attending the University of Cincinnati, majoring in fashion design at the nationally ranked art program otherwise known as DAAP.

Niyah’s motto is that “Fashion isn’t just about the clothes you wear, but also how they make you feel on the inside.” She believes that when you have on a great outfit, you start to feel more confident, and that confidence starts to show!

Inexpensive Chic can be summed up by this quote: “You don’t have to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks.” This blog is your ticket to how to look great and feel confident all for less.

When she’s not blogging, you can find her modeling, shopping, writing for two campus magazines (Hercampus.com/school/Cincinnati and TheNoirMagazine.com, singing to an R&B song, watching TV on her laptop, or practicing yoga, zumba, and pilates. Niyah is also a fashion stylist with Keaton Row.

  3. You have a really awesome blog! I am just turning 18 as well and I want to get into fashion and modeling, but at this age the doors seem kind of closed for me. How did you become a model? did you go to an art or fashion school?

    1. Hello! Thanks for the compliment on my blog. I began by starting my portfolio with my family and friends taking the pictures. I then took them into an agency and was signed. A great resource I’ve also used to connect with photographers and build my portfolio (often times for free!) is ModelMayhem.com. Check it out and best of luck!

And btw, I will be going to college to major in fashion design. But that has nothing to do with modeling, haha 🙂

  4. I love your concept and I do a series on my blog called “Battle of the Brands” where I compare the same look but by different designers and price points! “You don’t have to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks” is so true. I also do a DIY series where my motto is, “Why buy, when you can DIY?”

I hope you get a chance to check out my style blog!

  5. You know Niyah I just read your about page. It’s the law of attraction. I believe being well dressed builds confidence but also improve a women’s mood. My wardrobe consulting firm is based on that premise. I have changed lives. Great minds think a like!

  6. I love your site already 🙂 My name is Sarah, and I responded to your Polyvore question under janey113! Like I said there, I would really love to be featured, it just may take a while for me to do a mini photoshoot!

  7. OMG, I have that same exact scarf!! Well, I had that same exact scarf, then I dropped it somewhere when I was at school, and it’s gone forever. lol
You sound just like me in your description, and (if you’re still 15) I’m 15 too! I’m an aspiring fashion designer.
