Style Star of the Week: Tina Roe

Name: Tina Roe Age: 27 Born & Raised in The Bronx, Currently living in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, NY. Occupation: Apparel Inventory Planner What do you think about when you get dressed in the morning?  Not much, really. Unfortunately, I don’t give myself enough time in the morning to think about what I am going to wear. When I’m getting dressed for work, I simply grab 3 neutral peices from the  closet and go. I don’t concern myself with silhouettes, textures, or whether I am wearing a dress with pants.  I am comfortable wearing any combination of clothing thats monochromatic, tonal, or dual-toned.  The reason that this works is because I only buy clothes that I absolutely love and I keep the color palette simple. I do think about my footwear a little; when I think my outfit is too casual, I wear heels. When I think my outfit is too formal or dressy, I will wear flats/sneakers that pop a little. I am not sure if my co-workers like my style…I’m sure it’s a little weird to them…but it’s always …

The Thrifted Find I Always Get Compliments On

Years ago I found this Jones New York fur lined coat in a resale boutique called Snooty Fox here in Cincinnati. If you live in Cincy, you probably know what I am talking about– it’s awesome! If I remember correctly it was $30. Yet, whenever I wear this coat I feel like I am a celebrity wearing a fancy, expensive (faux) fur. That’s the power of clothes. Throwing this coat on over top whatever I wear, albeit track pants and sneakers, instantly makes me feel too cool for school. What I love about this coat the most is the warmth it provides. It’s like I am wrapped in my coziest blanket. Not a lot of coats I’ve seen have the fur on the inside, but it makes more sense to me, than to have it the other way around. Here’s what I wore underneath. Don’t you love this cold shoulder sweater? It feels like cashmere, but it was only $20 bucks at Hollister. Also, peep the sunglasses from FLOWER EYEWEAR. I did a review on them …

Check Out This Perfect Gym Bag Made From Plastic Bottles

Research shows that millennials are willing to spend more money on a product that lasts and is sustainable, than just go for the cheapest option. I love that our generation is conscious. From the Women’s March this past weekend, to the Dakota Access Pipeline Protests, we are proving to marketing companies and entrepreneurs that what we purchase must have meaning behind it. We want to change the world. Hamilton Perkins Collection is a new accessory line that is doing it right. Made out of 100% recyclable plastic bottles, HPC sells the world’s first impactful and transparent “Earth” bags.  Billions of plastic bottles are thrown away each year. The average person throws away as much as 180 pounds of plastic in 365 days. It takes 500-1,000 years for plastic to degrade. HPC is addressing these issues by turning trash into fashion. Besides being socially conscious, the bags are also moderately priced. The one featured here is only $97, the price of a standard backpack, yet it’s more durable and has a lesser impact on the environment. The bags are lined with repurposed billboard …

When you think of vacations, what comes to mind? We often think about glimmering sandy beaches and lavish hotels when booking holidays. Beyond Clothes: The Things That Influence Your Style You Probably Didn’t Know

Many of us assume that clothes are the only things that influence and define our styles. The truth is, style is something that gets defined outside of clothing fashion. Each of us has our own unique tastes and styles in life. Style goes far beyond the clothes we wear. And it’s something that helps us to forge our personal identities. Have you ever wondered what influences our unique styles? And are they things that have done so overnight, or have we always had a particular style? Photo Credit The Weather Where You Live It might sound strange, but the climate where you live plays a big part in your personal style. Even if they live somewhere cold like northern Alaska! The Work You Do What you do for a living will define your style. For example, let’s say that you have an outdoors job. It’s …

Met Gala 2016: Best Dressed List

The annual Met Gala is often referred to as fashion’s Oscars, and it never fails to be the most creative red carpet of the year. This year’s theme, Manus x Machina explores “how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear.” Celebs interpreted this in a lot of different ways, with futuristic metallics and beading being the most popular choice. Check out my favorite looks of the night, below, and let me know which one you think is the best of the gala.   I am obsessed with the over-the-top embellishment on this dress that Poppy somehow manages to make look effortless. This looks proves that maybe more really is more. This look is so different and refreshing for Lorde, and I love it! The frothy rainbow skirt of this amazing gown is balanced out so well with the minimal beauty look. Louis Vuitton was everywhere on this carpet, but I thought Jennifer wore it best. Her take on the motorcycle boot looks totally fresh with …
