My Latest Purchase

Chunky heels… I’ve been seeing a lot of this trend lately. When it first gained popularity, I have to admit, I was not a fan in the least bit. I’m a big fan of the the classic stiletto heels– but this new trend really is growing on me. I first started noticing the increasing popularity of this style of chunky heel in the popular Jelly shoes about a year ago, but if those aren’t your style they really have evolved into a more simple and less distinct style of shoe. I toyed with the idea of buying the original Jelly-style shoes but figured they would be something I spent a lot more time looking at rather than wearing. I absolutely love shoes, and have learned the hard way that it’s best to purchase the kinds of shoes that will go with most of your wardrobe. Chunky heeled shoes made a big appearance on the runways for Fall/Winter 2015, so I finally decided to give in and buy myself a pair. I really like this style of shoe …

Melissa’s BTS Wishlist

Getting everything together for when school starts back up can be a bit stressful. There are so many items that we need, it becomes overwhelming. As part of our back to school series I put together a list of items that I consider to be my top priority for back to school.1) A Long Black Cardigan   1) Black Cardigan I’ve been searching for the perfect black cardigan, or light jacket, that I can layer to transition through the seasons. Luckily, I have been seeing a bunch of new options popping up at different stores.           Boohoo, $35.00                   H&M, $49.99                   Tobi, $32.00 2) A Classic Satchel I am always on the lookout for basic bags that can match with a lot of outfits because I don’t love changing bags every day. Finding a satchel without large metal details gives me the freedom to pair it with any jewelry. For the school year, I need …

Fashion designers, models and well-dressed women everywhere agree: Shoes can make or break an outfit. The right pair of shoes can help an inexpensive ensemble shine; conversely, shabby footwear can ruin a perfectly styled wardrobe. Some clever buys and some good quality pairs of the right kind of shoes should cover you for any situation. Additionally, your collection doesn’t have to be huge: shoes that keep their shape, won’t fall apart and can be resoled are a great investment. Remember to look after your shoes and give them a good polish now and again. Footwear essentials Whether it’s a classic pump to wear with a work outfit, heeled ankle boots with skinny jeans or spiky heels to add the finishing touch to a stunning evening outfit, different shoes work with different outfits for different occasions. Just Add These: Spring’s Best Accessory Trends 2014

Tip 1: Go Vintage   Whether you’re inspired by the gems in the Downton Abbey collection or if you’re bedazzled by Modcloth’s first vintage-inspired jewelry collection, vintage jewelry is in –or at least vintage-inspired jewelry is in. If you’ve ever been to an antique store and seen ornate settings for gems or peals, sometimes in chunky arrangements, those are the kinds of things that are getting attention this Spring. If you’re attending an evening event or something more formal, pick settings that are more ornate and gem-incrusted. If you’re looking for some great baubles for the office or maybe for a road trip, go with vintage-inspired looks that are more colorful and chunkier. Tip 2: Go Smart Flat loafers –sometimes with tassels- are in. These aren’t your professor’s loafers, however: both of these loafers (featured on Modcloth) show the loafer style as unique and different. Other loafers from Overstock.com and other sites may take a more conservative approach with leather loafers, or leather loafers with fringe or tassels. These are in for Spring, too, but be careful not …

Do You Have These 10 Items in Your Closet?

These are the 10 staple items that every teen and young adult should have in their closet. When finding staple pieces you want to focus on items that will last season to season and year to year. 1. Chuck Taylor’s– “Chucks” as I like to call them- have been around forever, they are the most stylish sneakers you can buy. They scream personality, and best of all you can custom design your very own pair! They’re great for days when you want a more casual laid back look, but don’t want to walk around in those bulky girl versions of the sneakers the boys wear. What’s even better, is that they’ll only set you back about $60.00 bucks, which means you can buy one in a crazy color and another pair in a neutral. Try http://www.converse.com, Marshall’s, DSW or http://www.Zappos.com. You can really find them anywhere and always at a great price! 2. White Tee– not the “Hanes your way” tee, and definitely not the $90.00 Gwyneth Paltrow tee, but a nice loose-fitting, classic white …
