Links à la Mode: The IFB Weekly Roundup Style Conscious Believe it or not, the fashion industry is the second most dangerous industry to the planet. Between the (leather) tanning, gold mining and dye industries, fashion may look great on you, but not so much on “Mother Earth.” This week we have links to bloggers who are looking into what it means to be a kinder consumer of fashion. And of course, we’re all still gossiping about that Oscar’s red carpet too. Links à la Mode: February 26th Adorned in Armor: Dear Black People, You Are Your Hair. Red Carpet Oscars 2015 | Which Gowns Deserve 5 Stars?

I’ve rated this year’s Academy Award looks on a scale of one to five. A five of course means the celeb killed it! The dress is still amazing if they earned a four, it’s okay if it’s a three, and a two means it’s just not ideal at all (I didn’t give any ones). This is just my opinion of course, if you disagree, speak up! Leave a comment… Don’t forget to vote in the poll at the very end and choose the best dressed of the night. *Click on an image to be taken to the slideshow   What do you think of my ratings? How to Dress Stylishly in the Extreme Cold | F/W ’15 NYFW Street Style

Last week was crazyyyy. I can’t even imagine what it was like to be outside going to fashion shows in below zero temperatures. These street style stars didn’t let mother nature ruin their outfits though. Take a look at their fashion-forward and weather-appropriate looks! Why wear one coat when you can wear two? Head to toe grey, looks put together when you very thick, cozy, textures. Find the thickest and most oversized turtleneck sweater you can, I’d suggest checking out your local thrift store. Don’t forget to grab your blanket before you leave, just throw it around you like a scarf and stay warm all day. Kidding… sort of. If you’re not into that, try a thick blanket scarf. Also, that fur snood wrapped around the head and neck is genius! The longer your coat, dress, etc. the more skin is covered. Layer, layer, layer… stick to neutrals so it doesn’t look too overwhelming. Don’t forget about your accessories. Spruce up an outfit with a stylish hat or sunnies, and your favorite bag. Faux fur accents …

The Best Evening Wear Looks From F/W ’15

Kaviar Gauche Kaviar Gauche was founded in 2004 by Alexandra Fischer-Roehler and Johanna Kühl. The brand was shown at Berlin Fashion Week ’15, and is known for its “unpretentious, artsy, bridal couture.” The intricate detailing on the bodice is what really drew me into this collection. *Click to Enlarge Rosie Assoulin I’m in love with how theatrical and exaggerated these silhouettes are. Assoulin played with oversized pleats, scooped hems, and asymmetry to create captivating looks for evening, perfect for the red carpet! *Click to Enlarge Marchesa There’s definitely a Great Gatsby vibe happening with the model’s hair, as well as the beaded, and fringe detailing of the gowns. There’s a decadence there that proves black doesn’t have to be boring. *Click to Enlarge Lela Rose My favorite dress out of the five is the organza midi with rows of fuchsia and navy florals. I want it in my closet right now! All in all, the color choices were smart, and I love how girly each of the looks are– even at the different lengths. *Click …

Assembly, Victor Alfaro, Hellesy F/W ’15

These past few days I’ve been pinning like crazy my favorite looks from the Fall 2015 runway shows. I’m going to narrow those down to what I consider to be the best of the best and post a mini review here on the blog! Keep your eyes peeled. Feel free to share your opinions on these collections as well. Assembly Designer, Greg Armas In the winter, overt sex appeal isn’t a priority. This collection features turtlenecks that cover half the face, wide brimmed hats, and dark colors. With that being said, there’s beauty in being covered up. Close-fitted coats keep the body warm but still highlight the female figure, and the obscured face create a sense of mystery.   Victor Alfaro Oversized separates was a huge trend I noticed this season. In this particular collection, Alfaro played with the length of hems on his sweaters, as well as widened the hem of his pants. The knits look incredibly cozy, and also luxe in a very “Oh, this? I just threw this on…” kind of way. …
