Human Potential Spring Summer 2012

It was Dowon Kim (DO) & Yk Kim (YK) exceptional-cool label Human Potential that got me thinking how androgynous pieces can make someone look cool in either gender. It was a rare situation when it comes to a collection that will work for both. If it was not too feminine for the boys, then it would be too masculine for the girls; Human Potential triumphantly break my expectation to that issue. Graduated from Parsons, YK carried an extraordinary vision of New York to build an innovative fashion brand when she decided to return to Seoul. Until one day she met DO who shared the same vision and decided to join forces in 2008 under the label, Human Potential. Human Potential based in Seoul, South Korea signed a licensing agreement with Flux Apparel Inc to manufacture and distribute their masterwork in the U.S. in 2011. With vast interest from both consumers and artists from UK, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, France, Denmark, New Zealand, Brazil and Singapore, Human Potential is set to  spread the crazy Human Potential …

Palladium Boots

Recently, I was browsing lookbook.nu and I noticed a trend. It seemed like everyone on the site was wearing the same shoe just in different colors. The shoe was a mixture of a hi-top canvas sneaker and an ankle bootie, and it had a distinct wide, textured sole. I immediately fell in love. I scrolled down a little further to see what the name of this shoe was and found out it was called a Palladium Boot. After browsing the different styles, colors and prices and doing some online comparison shopping, I came to the realization that these babies were only $50 at their lowest price. Score! That’s nothing for a pair of sneakers, especially such unique looking ones like these. Leave them rolled up, or cuffed down depending on the outfit… My favorite ones are from the Pampa Hi-Lite collection. These candy-like colors are sure to be a sweet treat; and they’re perfect for a pop of color just in time for Spring/Summer! Don’t like the hi top style? Try these in an oxford …

Satin Kimono

Kimono Jacket & Necklace | Forever21  Pleated Skirt | Zara  Tights | Century21 Boots | Nine West I found this dusty pink satin kimono jacket at forever21 on sale (it was part of a buy one, get one free deal)! I had to double check that it was really marked down; I couldn’t believe it was on the sale rack… The print is perfect, I don’t have a lot of this color already in my wardrobe, and the fact that it is super lightweight meant that it would be perfect for spring. Here, I paired it over a cream 3/4 sleeve bodycon dress and added my pleated mini skirt on top. Opaque tights, a statement necklace and my favorite booties pulled the look together. Psst! I have exciting news! I am announcing the winners of the contributing writer position in just a few days. I can’t wait for you to meet them 🙂

How to Wear Spring Colors

I’ve taken three of the most popular colors for spring: turquoise, orange, and green and showed you what other colors to pair them with for a playful, fresh look. Did you know orange is the color for creativity? Don’t forget to read about what each of the colors mean…Green is the color of nature, fertility, life with grass-green being the most restful color. Green symbolizes self-respect, well-being and balance. It also means learning, growth and harmony. It’s super easy to incorporate green in your wardrobe whether its summer/spring or autumn/winter. Bright hues such as purple and blue are the perfect pairing for spring! Orange is a power color, it is one of the healing colors and it also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. Yes, orange is a power color however you shouldn’t be afraid to wear it. Pairing it with blue or yellow is the perfect way to stand out. Turquoise is the symbol of youth, both the color and the gemstone. This …

Style Star: Meet Ching Yun

Meet Ching-Yun, “23 years young” from San Diego/O.C./L.A., CA… Describe your style: I think my style can be summed up with the words ‘whimsical’ and ‘feminine.’ I love to wear dresses, heels, bows, ribbon, and anything that sparkles. Plus, I adore playful animal prints & jewelry, Hello Kitty, and unique, unexpected details. Last item of clothing you bought and for how much? I bought a snakeskin blouse from H&M (featured in my latest post) for only $9.95! Dream Job? My imaginary dream job would be either CEO of Sanrio, a fashion buyer for a department store, or a host on the television show, What Not to Wear. My more realistic dream job would be a public interest attorney. Your fashion inspiration? I am inspired by the television show Gossip Girl, my girlfriends and the fashion community here on blogspot! I don’t watch fashion shows or follow trends in magazines. I mostly wear what I think looks good, regardless of whether it is “in” this season or not. If I am on trend, then it’s always by coincidence. If I like something and the …

As the Lights Dim

Lime Perforated Sweater & Rings | Forever21  Cheetah Print Scarf | Borrowed   Black Jeggings | Ross  Sandals | DSW  Rose Earrings | H&M Just came home from a weekend trip to Cincinnati with the family. As we pulled up to our house I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful sky; I wanted to take advantage of it and get a few quick snaps of my outfit. Kill to birds with one stone, eh? Lately I’ve been super busy trying to get all of the applicants for the contributing writer position situated. Currently, they are in the “Mock Assignment” stage, this is when I give them two posts to write on the topics they are interested in (whether it be beauty, advice, celeb style for less, fashion DIY, etc.). Based off of their experiences in fashion, passion for writing and quality of the “mock post”, I’ll be choosing a handful of winners. Twenty+ people applied from all over the world and I hope to narrow it down to just 5 or 6. Wish me luck! …

Look for less: Katniss Everdeen/The Hunger Games

I’ve been hooked on the hunger games (both the books and movie) for a while now and I actually watched the movie twice (watching something as fab as THG only once just isn’t enough!). Not only is the movie filled with breath-taking, sitting- on- the- edge- of- your- seat- scenes, and the actors are exactly as I imagined them to be, but the movie has some great fashion as well! No matter if you are a die-hard fan or simply love to recreate the styles of fictional characters, no one can resist the charm of Jennifer Lawrence’s wardrobe as Katniss Everdeen. Casual and comfortable pieces such as sporty jackets and cargo pants, distressed leather jackets and combat boots and the popular Katniss braids (aka double braids) consist of the most edgy and fab wardrobes I’ve seen lately. Here are a few examples on how to recreate her style for less. A unique mix between military and edgy, her outfits can easily be recreated by adding just a few must-have pieces to your wardrobe. I found …
