Style Star of the Week: Taquann Drayton

Taquann “Tay” Drayton New York, New York Occupation: Fashion Retail Full time & Lifestyle Blogger on the Side How would you describe your style: Versatile. I try not to box myself by having one particular kind of style all the time because I think it’s very predicate when people can automatically place you in a category based off your certain type of style. I like to be unpredictable & play around with different looks. One day you will see me give androgynous vibes & the next you will see street wear vibes. I also love to mix high & low. I don’t mind mixing Valentino & Dior with H&M & Uniqlo. I have a great appreciation for high & low.  What do you think about getting dressed in the morning: This may sound crazy but the funny thing is, I don’t think. I’m a perfectionist. With that being said, pretty much everything in my life is very organized and well planned out so I don’t have to spend time thinking about it. I just grab and …

Style Star of the Week: Jarrel Jackson

Jarrel Jackson, 27 Cincinnati, OH Aspiring Designer/Entrepreneur My style is a beautiful mashup of street wear, vintage, athletic apparel and contemporary menswear. I like to express myself through different styles of clothing and footwear and combine them for unique looks. The first thing I think about when getting dressed is how I can turn heads while still being able to break out in a run if I have to. I like to be fashionable but functional at the same time. Any item of clothing that I have made myself whether it’s distressed or painted jeans, custom shoes, or a bracelet I made really makes me feel like myself. Style Star of the Week: Azra Syakirah

Azra Syakirah, 21 Singapore Student, Menswear Fashion Designer What do you think about when you get dressed in the morning? Because I live in a tropical country, my first thought would probably be, “Is it going to be extremely sunny today? If not, I could dress up a bit more (with layers).” Comfort has always been important to me, but I try my best to not compromise my own style beliefs while at it. Everyday is a new exciting challenge for me. What item of clothing or accessory makes you feel most like yourself and why? It’s not a specific thing, per say, but the attitude I have when I wear an outfit. Sometimes when I throw a few pieces together, I just don’t feel like I’m being true to myself and I would go about the day feeling out of place. It’s because of that mentality I have at the beginning that causes lack of confidence in myself, I suppose. What is your dream job? I think most (if not every) fashion design student’s dream is …

Name: TJ but more commonly known as Trévon James ( pronounced Tray-vahn Jayms) Age: 31 Where Are You From: NYC born and raised (woop woop)! Occupation: Graphic Designer / Photographer What do you think about when you get dressed in the morning?
I think about the mood I’m in or I want to be in. My mother taught me that you never dress how you feel. If you’re sick, depressed, angry, lazy, whatever, never dress that way. You never know what opportunity or experience awaits you. So, do I dress up everyday? No, but I definitely think about the what ifs. What item of clothing or accessory makes you feel most like yourself and why?
I have to say anything leather. A leather jacket, a leather bag, a leather bracelet. I feel like it elevates any style. There’s been times I’ve worn just a basic shirt and some jeans and threw on my leather jacket and all of sudden I felt confident, I felt strong, and stylish. What is your dream job? My dream job would …
