The Statement Necklace

h This collar necklace was one of my purchases from Black Friday (Forever21). I was really excited when I found it, because I’ve been looking for a similar one for a while now! Statement necklaces are one of my favorite ways to accessorize, and this one changes the look completely. The crocheted sweater was another one of my Black Friday purchases (Old Navy). Overall, I felt comfortable, yet stylish!

My Thanksgiving In Pictures (and a few words too!)

Everyone had their own question at their place, we went around and everyone at the table had to answer. This questions reads “What’s the best present you’ve ever recieved?” Mmmm… desserts! Sweet potato pies, chocolate covered strawberries and beignets (not pictured) were on the menu. What I wore… This Thanksgiving was spent with my best friend/”sister” and her family. Her family is from D.R. Congo and provided authentic African dishes; while our family made the traditional American Thanksgiving food. Everything was so delicious and we had a great time! Unfortunately, I have to go back to school tomorrow 😦 I cannot wait for Winter break…!

I am thankful for my friends and family, the success of my blog, my dedicated readers, and the little things I take for granted everyday; like having clothes on my back and food in my mouth. What are you thankful for? Enjoy a day full of family, thanks and great food 🙂

Get Inspired!

1. There’s no way I’d be able to wear these Glittery Wedges, but they remind me of the Holiday season. 2. I love how candid this picture looks. Check out her makeup! The fuscia lips would work perfect for a holiday makeup look. 3. What a practical idea! This closet is out in the open and creates a fairytale effect that I wouldn’t want to end. 4. I really like this quote. I feel like a lot of people who don’t understand or care about fashion think it’s a waste of time, but really, it’s just apart of who we are and how we express ourselves. 5. Running out of hairstyle ideas? This one is quick and easy, but the result looks polished. All images are from Pinterest.com

3 Ways To Wear It: Sweater Dress

1. Preppy Chic Pair a button down top underneath the dress so the collar is the only think showing (if the sleeves from this shirt are still showing, cuff them over the sleeves of your sweater dress). Next, lift up your collar and layer a collar necklace underneath, pull the collar down over top so the back of the necklace won’t show. Add a fun pop of color with your socks, let them peek out from your boots. 2. Urban Classic Throw on a denim vest over your dress and wear pleather pants or liquid leggings underneath. Just add a beanie hat and some cute sparkly sneaks, and you’re out the door!   3. Downtown Girl This personally, is my favorite way to wear a sweater dress. Circle a scarf around your neck, slip on some ankle booties and patterned tights. Sometimes a long necklace can add flair in addition to the scarf. A plum-colored lipstick never gets old. What To Wear This Holiday Season

While I was shopping for my mom’s birthday today, I made sure to be on the lookout for any holiday trends this season. Sequins/glitter and metallics are usually a top trend no matter the year, but two other trends I noticed were unexpected sheer and two tones. 1. Sequins What’s not to love about this glittery goodness? It screams Holiday time! Go all out in a bodycon sequined dress or be subtle with it by wearing sparkly pumps to go with your simple LBD. One of my favorite uses of this trend is the sequined sweatshirt. To make it more party ready try pairing it with a body con skirt in a bright color, cuff bracelet and black heels. 2. Metallics Like sequins, metallics are always associated with Holiday clothing. Try metallic tights underneath a feather skirt. A bow blouse and pastel clutch will complete the look. 3. Unexpected Sheer Sheer in places you normally wouldn’t expect can be very sexy. Definitely pick one place to accent so it won’t be too revealing. I spotted this really cute …

Winter Essentials

     1. Cozy Headband Aerie $12.50 Keep your ears warm and sport a cute warm weather trend at the same time! 2. Leatherette Shearling Jacket Forever21 $34.93 This is no ordinary leather jacket, it keeps you toasty with an inside lining of shearling. Pair with a feminine skirt or dress to soften it out. 3. Two Tone Infinity Scarf Charlotte Russe $12.50 I love infinity scarves! They are extremely effective in keeping your neck warm. This two toned one, makes it more fun to play with. 4. Cowl Neck Sweater H&M $19.99 For those days when it’s extra cold, why not wear a sweater with a cowl neck? It’s like a scarf and sweater in one! This oversized one is super chic. I’d pair it with pleather pants like the model in the picture. 5. Chunky Wedges Zara $49.99 I think wedges (next to boots) are the perfect winter shoe. Pair them with knee high socks and a mini skirt or let a fun pair of ankle socks peek out over the top.
