Modeling for On the Prowl Vintage Boutique

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with the owner of On the Prowl Vintage Boutique, an Etsy shop that sells handpicked, authentic vintage clothing. I spent the day getting my hair and makeup done and then shooting about fifty different outfits back-to-back. It was a lot of fun and the clothes are so amazing! Definitely take a look around the site to see for yourself. Below are some of my favorite shots from the photoshoot. 20% off storewide sale is going on right now!!! Happy shopping.

Prom 2014: Dresses $150 and Under

Did you know the best time to shop for you prom dress is right now? Purchasing your dress in January keeps you a step ahead. Not only will you have plenty of time to get it tailored to fit you like a glove, but you’ll be the first to select the new styles before they get picked over by others in March. I’ve searched the World Wide Web for the best dresses, featuring stores like http://www.1dress.co.uk and http://shop.nordstrom.com  all under $150! A Week of Outfits

I try to take what my friend and I call “#OOTD pics” as often as possible, but last week we made it a habit and took a picture each day right after lunch. If you follow me on Instagram (@inexpensivechic) you may have seen them already, but I figured I’d also post them here. Who knows when I’ll have consecutive outfits posted again! It’s kind of interesting to try to find my style within these five outfits. Honestly, just by looking at this sample, I seem to try different things– there’s really no common thread… what do you think? Wednesday January 15 I really wanted to wear this jacket because it’s been 3 months since I last wore it. I decided to pair it with purple pants for an edgier look. Thursday January 16 This is probably my favorite dress that I own. I love the print on the bottom. It’s super unique. I am always challenging myself to wear it in new ways.

The Do’s and Dont’s of Online Shopping

More times than not, I am browsing around on my computer and before I know it, I find myself looking at the “new arrivals” section of Asos.com or Nordstrom’s. Pretty soon I am adding items to my cart, an hour passes by, I am looking at other sites… meanwhile I don’t actually have money to spend, but I end up bargaining with myself and justifying the purchase of my twentieth cream sweater. I can’t be the only one who does this… right? Regardless, here are ten tips to avoid being sucked into the clever trap otherwise known as online shopping. DO begin to add items you like to your shopping cart or wish list as a storage place. Then come back to it for editing once you’re done browsing. Get rid of anything you’re second guessing. DO ask yourself if you have at least three different ways you can wear a piece of clothing with what you already have in your closet. If you can’t picture how you would wear it, there’s a chance it will stay …

How to Stretch Your Dollar: Three $50 Outfits

If given $50 to spend shopping, I am the kind of girl who is going to buy as many items with that fifty bucks as possible. It’s almost like a game to me… how far can I stretch a dollar? I can spend hours flipping through the sale racks and scanning the store for any type of clearance. Often times, I end up with a whole new outfit! Below are three complete looks I’ve assembled with a theoretical $50! What would you buy? 1.  2.  3.

Common Scents

Every morning after I get out of the shower, I moisturize with a fragrance-free lotion and spritz on my favorite perfume of the moment.  Currently, I have four favorite scents that I switch between every month or so. These are the common scents I use 😉 What scents are you loving? *This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

5 Must Have Pieces for Your 2014 Wardrobe

It’s the year 2014!! I cannot believe how fast 2013 went by. A lot happened this past year; I met some new friends, helped my teammates go to nationals in track (they won their event!), walked in my first real fashion show, had my besties come visit me from Illinois, babysat my next door neighbor for the entire summer, began my senior year of high school, turned 18, continued getting modeling opportunities, was featured in Instyle magazine, got baptized, celebrated, cried, laughed, reevaluated… Ha, it has definitely been an interesting and very blessed year. I think a lot of times a new year is like a blank page. A new chapter in your book of life. You can either choose to keep living it the way you always have, or make small changes to improve. This can mean changing what you eat, how much you exercise and of course what you wear! Based on what I’ve seen on the S/S ’14 runways, 2014 is looking mighty fine in terms of what the new trends are. …
