The Look For Less: New York Fashion Week

Hello lovely readers of Inexpensive Chic! I am back for another round of the look for less. If you are a total fashion fanatic like me, then I am sure you have noticed all of the incredible fashion shows that have been taking place over the past few weeks. With all of the gorgeous runway and behind the scenes images plaguing my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages, I was determined to create a look that reflected my favorite shows. I was heavily inspired by the sheer fabrics and bright pops of color from the Christopher Kane and Lela Rose collections. I had very little luck finding affordable pieces that mimicked the organza perfection demonstrated at my favorite shows. Luckily, I found a darling sheer floral dress from Clothes Mentor that had neon floral cutouts pasted all over the bodice. To give the dress more of a transparent effect, I decided to whip out my scissors and trim a few inches off of the lining. My breezy Vera Wang dress was purchased at the Anderson Clothes Mentor for …

The Look For Less: Reinventing A Summer Staple

Greetings lovely readers of Inexpensive Chic! The blazing-hot days of summer are coming to an end, and are slowly being replaced with those perfect chilly fall days we all look forward to. Even though the temperature is dropping, I am not ready to say goodbye to my favorite summer staple. I purchased this little white dress from Clothes Mentor for $14, and it was worth every last penny. The slightly wrinkled linen is casual and feminine. The fabric is light and breathable and not too transparent. Determined to work this sweet little dress into my chilly-weather wardrobe, I decided to create three looks demonstrating how a white tank dress can be fab for fall. As usual, I stuck to my penny pincher ways when shopping for these three looks! For my first look, I was inspired by a street style ensemble that included an oversized menswear-inspired cardigan and a white shirt dress. My similar patchwork cardigan was the find of a lifetime. I scored this one-of-a-kind piece from a yard sale in Northside for only …

The Look For Less: Wearing White After Labor Day

Labor Day is just around the corner, but that does not mean you should ditch your favorite white ensemble. Many of us ignore the “no white after Labor Day” rule, but wearing white can still be intimidating. White fabrics can be transparent and every single wrinkle and pucker is accentuated. With the right fabric and silhouette choices, wearing a lot of white can be surprisingly flattering. I came up with two thrifted looks to show you guys how I like to rock white after Labor Day. Both looks are inspired by two of my favorite models!Look #1: My first look is inspired by Liya Kebede’s elegant Grecian gown by Lemlem. I was determined to find the perfect white dress to mimic this look, and was pleasantly surprised when I found this lightweight maxi in Target’s clearance section. This comfortable and chic dress set me back $14. I created a cinched waistline by throwing a patterned sleeveless button up over the dress and tying the ends together. I scored this Kimchi Blue top from Plato’s Closet …

The Look For Less: Ashley Olsen

Hello lovely readers of Inexpensive Chic! My name is Brittany (your newest contributing writer to Inexpensive Chic), and I am here to show you how to recreate your favorite street style and runway looks without spending a lot of cash. You may think this sounds too good to be true, but I have found that unconventional styles of shopping can make your dollar go a long way. I have never been much of a mall shopper. I prefer to spend my days digging through boxes of clothing cast-offs at vintage shops, and rifling through the racks at thrift stores. Thrifting can be hard work. But as we all know, hard work can pay off big time. Today I would like to share a look from Ashley Olsen that I recreated with pieces found in my own closet. I have been a major MK&A fan since the ripe old age of five, and I personally love their boho-glam style. In the photo, we see Ashley sporting a classic light-blue button up, low-rise black skinnies, oversized shades, …
